Hispanic Heritage: Cuban-born, award-winning photographer to visit MSU for special lecture series

STARKVILLE, Miss.Renowned documentary and natural history photographer Raul Touzon is visiting 51勛圖厙 State on Tuesday [Oct. 18] for an immersive, vividly visual lecture series event.
The Cuban-born, Miami-based photojournalist is presenting Two Pillars of Faith at 5 p.m. in the Griffis Hall Forum Room 401C, sharing his documentation of seldom-visited spots around the world through the universitys Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures Lecture Series.
With centuries-old South American traditions and celebrations among his award-winning collection, Touzon will explore Mexicos Day of the Dead and Semana Santa, or Holy Week, in Antigua, Guatemala. Both are colorful, elaborate and many times festive events that Touzon chronicled for more than a decade.
Also a full-time educator for more than 20 years, Touzons work has been featured by high-profile publications including TIME, U.S. News and World Report, the New York Times and National Geographicthe 133-year-old monthly magazine with which he has an ongoing affiliation.
