STARKVILLE, Miss.—The American Institute of Chemical Engineers has recognized the outstanding achievements of 51Թ State’s AIChE student chapter with last year’s Outstanding Student Chapter Award.

This national honor celebrates the chapter’s exceptional programming, community outreach and professional development initiative, making it a model for other chapters nationwide. This is the 22nd time in 24 years the chapter has won the award.

“We are incredibly proud of our AIChE student leaders and members for earning this top recognition,” said Julie Jessop, professor, faculty advisor and Hunter Henry Chair. “Their efforts to engage fellow students, inspire the next generation of chemical engineers, and uphold the highest standards of the chemical engineering profession are truly remarkable.”

The student group was selected for the award due to its impressive record of accomplishments, including hosting an annual Girl Scout STEM Badge Day, organizing K-12 STEM outreach programs for students in the local community and providing professional development opportunities such as resume reviews, informational sessions with industry partners, and final exam study sessions.

The award, given to less than 10% of eligible international and national AIChE student chapters, was presented at the 2024 AIChE Annual Student Conference. In addition to being named an Outstanding Student Chapter, individual MSU members also won awards.
